Research focus:
At the Institute of Dendrology, PAS, I conduct research into the role of thioredoxins in the viability of seeds of various types.
My greatest achievement so far had been the development of a state-of-the-art method to asses seed viability on the basis of OCR (oxygen consumption rate) measurements with the use of the Seahorse apparatus. I cooperate with renowned research centres, such as Zaidin Experimental Station in Grenada, and the Institute of Experimental Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague.
My research are of key importance to the protection of biodiversity, and the results help refine methods for long-term seed storage, which is vital for the preservation of valuable plant genetic resources.
I am currently focusing on exploring the molecular grounds for long-term seed viability.
I am also ambassadress of an initiative called “Dziewczyny do nauki! [Girls into Science!] promoting women’s participation in the world of science.
