Research focus:
I am a scientist specializing in the biology of forest tree seeds and in the conservation of plant genetic resources. My work focuses on understanding how environmental factors influence seed dormancy and germination. A key aspect of my research concerns seed storage and its effect on seed viability and subsequent seedling growth. I place particular emphasis on exceptional species which seeds are difficult to store (such as recalcitrant seeds). To effectively secure the genetic resources of such plant species, I extend my studies with cryopreservation techniques and in vitro plant propagation. In my work, I aim to gain deeper insight into seed biology and develop effective and practical methods for seed storage at every stage of the process - from harvesting to sowing.
