Professor Andrzej M. Jagodziński, DSc, PhD, Eng., Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences – offers mentoring to PhD candidates and early-career researchers in the planning and conduct of ecological research, particularly studies focused on forest ecosystems, including the formulation of research questions, hypotheses and objectives, the selection of appropriate research methods, and the interpretation of results. He can also provide support in the preparation of scientific and popular science publications, conference presentations, and in developing young researchers’ skills in communicating research findings in a variety of formats. With a publication record comprising more than 350 articles, including over 200 papers published in journals indexed in the Web of Science, Professor Jagodziński is well placed to support mentees in shaping their publication strategies and developing scientific independence. He is also able to mentor young researchers in applying for research funding, project design, work planning and scheduling, and in linking basic research with issues of practical relevance to forestry and nature conservation. He has extensive experience in securing research funding from a variety of sources, gained through his role as principal investigator or research team member in more than 30 scientific projects and research service projects. Professor Jagodziński is actively involved in academic training and supervision. He has supervised more than 80 undergraduate engineering and Master’s theses and has served as supervisor or co-supervisor in 7 completed doctoral dissertations (in biological sciences and forestry). He is the author of numerous papers published in prestigious international journals, including Nature, Science, Nature Ecology & Evolution, Nature Plants, Nature Communications, Science Advances, PNAS, Global Change Biology, and Forest Ecology and Management. He has also reviewed a large number of manuscripts for leading international journals, as well as grant applications submitted to foreign competitive research funding agencies. He is among the world’s most highly cited researchers in his fields of research. Owing to his many years of managerial and organisational experience, as well as his involvement in numerous scientific and advisory bodies, he is also well positioned to support young researchers in planning their career development, building collaborative networks, and strengthening their scientific profile.
