The LX Congress of the Polish Botanical Society (Polskie Towarzystwo Botaniczne) in Katowice (29.06.-04.07.2025) is behind us. This year it was held under the motto “The nature of change... with botany into the future”. In the not-too-distant future we will share our memories... In the meantime, however, we will focus on a special moment.
During the opening ceremony of the Congress, seven people were awarded the Dignity of Honorary Member of PTB, i.e.:
- Dr. Bożena Denisow,
- dr. hab. Bogdan Jackowiak,
- dr. hab. Jan Matuszkiewicz,
- dr. hab. Anna Mikula,
- dr. hab. Maria Rudawska,
- dr. hab. Barbara Tokarska-Guzik,
- dr. hab. Konrad Wołowski.
We congratulate you all!
It is with especially great pride that we look at the name of our Professor Maria Rudawska - an outstanding specialist in forest mycology and ecology of symbioses of woody plants with fungi, who has been professionally associated with our Institute for more than five decades.
It is worth mentioning that the Dignity of Honorary Member of the Polish Botanical Society is awarded to persons of outstanding merit in the field of botany and related sciences and for outstanding contributions to the Society. The conferring of this Dignity takes place during the PTB Congress. In the first 100 years of PTB's activity (1922-2022), 115 Polish and 68 foreign botanists were accepted by the Society as honorary members.
