The lilac collection in the Arboretum is one of the richest in Poland and has been called the National Collection since 2017. Lilacs have been collected in the Kórnik arboretum for several decades, the oldest shrubs growing here date back to the 1930s. Currently, the lilac collection has over 300 items, most of which are ornamental varieties of common lilac (257 varieties, a total of 916 bushes). Most of the Kórnik lilacs grow in the so-called The New Arboretum, which is not normally open to visitors.
The collections can be viewed during guided tours and individually on selected May weekends, during events organized especially to celebrate the flowering of these plants. The collection includes both old, mature shrubs and young plantings that are several years old. We will see lilacs with white, pink, purple, lilac, but also blue, creamy-yellow flowers, and even two-colored petals.

Wandering along a dark, mysterious path among the old 150-year-old yew trees, one encounters plaques describing the biology, history and cultural significance of this species. Here you can learn about its reproduction and ways of spreading, the animals associated with it, as well as the importance of the yew in gardens, its symbolism and its poisonous and medicinal properties.
